Glengate Alliance Church membership has voted to proceed with a master plan to redevelop their property at 6009 Valley Way in Niagara Falls. The church purchased the old St. Michael's High School in 2004 to use part of the facility for church purposes.
Niagara Region Christian Community Church, a Chinese mission effort, a day care and a limited commercial storage are tenants in the building. Several unsuccessful attempts were made to lease the largest portions of the building to institutional tenants. Also there were several offers to purchase the playing field that were not pursued.
In October of 2007 JustShelter was hired to create a master plan to present to the membership. The plan calls for close to 115 apartment and townhome seniors housing units to be offered under a life lease tenure. As well the entrance of the church is to be relocated to the east side and renovations made to the church space.
Preliminary marketing is about to begin and the build out is expected to take 3-5 years. Further details will follow.
Construction is underway at 6009 Valley Way, converting the old St. Michaels High School into 34 apartment units for seniors. Occupancy is scheduled for June 1st.
